As a Realtor of 33 years, the most common question I am ask by home sellers is, “What one thing/repair can I perform to benefit myself most in preparing to sell my home?” The answer is simple – paint the house from Head-to-Toe, so to speak.
Painting everything from the ceilings, trim, walls and baseboards is the least expensive thing you can do to get the biggest bang for your buck! And – don’t forget the exterior!
The next best thing is to ‘clean it out’ and ‘clean it up’! Less is better in regards to personal property and things just sitting around. Also, a dirty house signals to most buyers not only that you’re a poor housekeeper but it says that the house has not been well maintained. Do a deep cleaning, change all HVAC filters, clean up the yard, etc.
